Yes, Tacrolimous. That happened to me about 3 months after my transplant. I lost about a third of my hair, and I also had tremoring in my hands. After lots of pleading, they took me off the Tacro and put me on Sirolimous. The tremoring stopped immediately, and my hair stopped falling out. It took a good 9 months before my hair grew back.
I am on prograf I take 3 in the morning and two at night.i am one years and 2 momth inmy kidney transplants
Liver for me. Between tacro and the physical trauma of my surgery about half of my hair fell out. It had all grown back about 6 months post. It happens to a lot of us it seems, it should naturally stop after time and a lower level of meds.
Liver transplant and the tacro did that to me, too. I am on sirolimus now and the hair is getting full again. It takes time for the body to adjust. Patience. It may improve.
Ok
Yes I am a yr into my kidney transplant but I am still loosing a lot of hair ,now occasional tremors if I am stressed and very bad insomnia every night that affect or ruin the joy of the next day.
I am on 6 mg Tacrolimus twice a day could it be the reason ( is this a high dose)
any tips regarding hair lose or to help regrowth I will appreciate
thanks 😊
I found myself falling into the world of clean beauty. Being kind to yourself during this journey is important. Losing hair is awful but it may grow back once things start calming down.
Hi there! I’m 10 months post kidney and my hair started falling out at 6 months and has not stopped. I was on only 1mg of prograf and finally my team switched me to envarsus. I have lost so much hair. Has anyone else experienced that and is envarsus less likely to not cause hair loss? Please and thank you.

If you use the search bar on the forum I know we've had many conversations in the past about hair loss so you might find some tips hidden in those discussions.
I lost a lot of hair a few months in, and it took about a year for me to start growing any back. I didn't have a lot of hair to begin with so wigs, extensions and hats became my best friends. Mine was from the sheer amount of trauma I went through during transplant surgery, getting used to the meds and just my body healing. Healing takes way longer than anyone tells you, and isn't just about surgical scars.
I second @TiaBean in that I switched entirely to clean beauty and limited heat usage. Also cleaning up my diet and making sure I was getting adequate nutrition. Your body has been through A LOT and it takes a long time to adjust. Losing my hair was maybe the hardest for me mentally, but maybe it's an opportunity to play with new styles via wigs for a bit?
I've been on Tacrolimus for close to twelve years and my hair loss started about 4 year post-transplant. My transplant team noted fellow transplant patients take the vitamin Biotin, which can help in some instances. I would recommend asking your team if it may be right for you.

@Workgirl1982 , unfortunately as others have indicated. Loss of hair is a common side-effect due to immunosuppression meds that we're on (primarily Profraf/Tacro).
That said, I suppose I got lucky! I've pretty much retained my "mop" throughout my post-heart tx journey. Luckily, my Tacro dosages have been relatively low, throughout. This April will make 11 years post heart tx for me. Currently (and for the last several years) my Tacro dosage is 0.5 mg×2 daily. 🙏
Perhaps, @Jdboogy53 can chime in on this topic.
Best of luck to you!
I had hair loss post-transplant surgery. I went to the dermatologist and she prescribed medication for me and I have been able to grow it back. Consider reaching out to your medical team.
