I’ve made a big initiative lately to try and stop mindlessly scrolling. I’ve noticed that’s helped a ton. I’ve also picked back up some other hobbies too, which has helped in filling the time and giving my hands something to do
These are great and coming at the perfect time because over the last several weeks I feel like my brain fog has gotten worse. I started playing sudoku here and there when I catch myself mindlessly spending time on social media and I am back to reading before bed for two nights a week. Good to keep in mind the suggested healthy eating, exercise and regular checkups in addition.
Great article! I have found myself mindlessly scrolling and "losing time" I have yelled at myself on more than one occasion. 😆 I didn't use to scroll, but lately, the algorithm has me hooked. So, I am making it harder to reach for my device by leaving it in another room, or placing it face down so I don't react when the screen lights up.
What I do to keep my brain engaged is write poetry or I narrate things that I am doing especially when the grandkids are around so they hear language. I also make up silly personalized songs about our day or task. This is challenging, because like poetry, I try to fit the words together, by rhyming, or theme, or sounds. It's not as easy as it sounds. Performances are one shot wonders, I can never remember the tune or the lyrics the next day or hour. When I eat clean and move I like myself so much more. Life is richer and brighter. Sleep is still my issue. I need to challenge myself to a schedule. Thanks for sharing the article, now we have a source and science to back up our claim for nature breaks!

You're welcome, @Karin. We almost need to censor some stuff & protect our 🧠s, especially when it comes to the current affairs (news cycles).

@GarciaChau , I love that you write poetry and narrate to your grandchildren, in order to keep your 🧠 active! As you and others on this thread have indicated, the key is to keep creating various ways by which to prolong healthy 🧠 activity.
I also like your idea of making up silly songs etc. 👍
I'll write one for you someday! 😀🎵 and sing it!
