This is a great question. I always cheat a little around the holidays but I am mindful of only doing that for one meal and not every single meal that day. As many of us know, it is a little easier post transplant but while on dialysis I was a lot more careful. I was on peritoneal dialysis and doing treatments every night so my restrictions weren't as heavy as some patients who are only able to get dialysis 3x a week. The stuffing was my weakness! My mom would make a lower sodium version for me but it was just not the same, haha!

I do cheat a little, too. I am lucky to have family that make sides and dishes everyone can eat. Just be cautious about food being left out and the kiddo hands that get everywhere.

Hi! I always try to stay healthy since I know I feel so much better when I eat clean - but clearly the holidays bring more food and alcohol than during the normal days. I try to exercise more when I eat more, always try to walk after meals and drink lots of water or diet ginger ale if I drink wine. I tend to control my food a lot so even “cheating” a bit feels hard and I tend to just eat small pieces of more things vs eating a lot of one unhealthy option!!
